TENCEL® either absorbs or releases moisture. Compared to other fibers,
TENCEL® features the highest moisture absorption-rate: with air
humidity at 65 %, TENCEL® still has unused capacity to absorb moisture

Botanic, The basic principle

forms the basis of ProModal®. Wood, the raw material used for

complete integration of the production process which is totally
unparalleled. Lenzing Modal® is manufactured from indigenous beech
wood. The pulp used is produced at Lenzing. Therefore, Lenzing has

added TENCEL® fiber is very persuasive thanks to its revolutionary

PROMODAL® FOR THE SAKE OF THE ENVIRONMENT
Put to the test
By order of Lenzing AG, the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands
carried out a life cycle analysis* of Lenzing fibers. The topics
examined were over-fertilization, the excess acidity of the air, water
and soil consumption, global warming and the effects on human health.
Another important point was the consumption of non-renewable resources,
which in the case of Lenzing, i.e. the raw material wood, is very
small. The Lenzing site has proved itself to be particularly
sustainable. As a result of synergy effects such as the integrated
production of pulp, energy and fibers, it is possible to make optimum
use of resources. The Utrecht study evaluated all of the environmental
impacts caused by making fibers. Utrecht came to the conclusion that
with cotton, the toxic load on fresh water and soil is enormous. Soil
and water contamination are factors in growing cotton which are 100
times higher than with Lenzing fibers.

The yield of Lenzing fibers is up to six times higher than that of cotton.
Responsible treatment of the land
Timber
from sustainably grown forest plantations is used for Lenzing fibers.
This means that the land could not have been used for any other
purpose. Cotton, on the other hand, requires agricultural land.
Water is life
Cotton needs up to 10-20 times more water than Lenzing fibers.
